Driving running culture forward A HOKA community initiative in partnership with Hypebeast. Running clubs are a way for people to connect and share experiences, maybe even working towards individual or collective goals. These communities act as a safe space, a gathering of like-minded people to share ideas as well as workouts, leaving a positive impact on their lives. In partnership with Hypebeast, we’re donating to two London-based running clubs to support the great work they do within their communities.

Queer Running Club QRC is a safe space for queer and trans people to run together. Meeting every Tuesday night at Brunswick East in Hackney Downs, QRC is a community out to provide a decentralised space for all queer-identifying people to run together without judgement or fear. Co-Founder of QRC, Kole Fulmine, tells us how the run club tries to bring a sense of community to everything they do. With each run beginning with an introduction to themselves and clarification on their pronouns, it inspires a familiarity between the runners. “The HOKA donation will allow us to run together more, I can train more runners up to be coaches and it also means we can dedicate more time to fundraising”.

Run With Purpose RWP is a community helping men of all backgrounds and abilities to overcome mental health issues through running and socialising. According to research by mental health charity Mind, men are more than twice as likely as women to struggle with emotional support as they lack someone to rely on. Holding runs and socials on a fortnightly basis, RWP’s mission is to create a safe, supportive space for men, allowing them to become the very best version of themselves. “RWP is all about any guy showing up being valued, being listened to and just finding a space to be themselves”. Joel, Co-Founder of RWP alongside his friend Nii believe what matters most is creating an environment for people to talk about their stories, “We are not professional councillors, we are professional listeners”. RWP plan to use the HOKA donation to host workshops with mental health specialists with the aim of expanding nationally. And invest in more cool merch to help spread the word, of course.
